Wings #4 (Spacers)

Total Build time: 320 hours.

Before fitting the ribs to the main spar, a certain number of spacers have to be made to fill the gaps created by the multiple varying layers within the main spar. There are 2 types of spacers… those that are the thickness of the main spar caps:

And then those that are the thickness of the main spar web. The spar cap spacers were easy to cut from a length of 1/2″ x 1/8″ bar. The spar web spacers had to be sliced from a larger sheet of .032″ aluminum.

I then drilled pilot holes into all of the spacers:

Deburr, then I’m about ready to install the ribs onto the spars.
