Aft Fuselage #6 (Turtledeck)

Posted by on December 19, 2013

Total build time: 182 Hours.

With the turtledeck completely up-drilled for rivets, it’s time to peel it back apart for deburring.

And reassemble!

At this point I’m also polishing the skins.

At this point I have completely riveted up the substructure for the turtledeck, but have not yet riveted the skins in place. I’m going to wait until I’m sure I don’t want to access this area of the plane any longer.

With the turtledeck riveted in place, the aft fuselage/tail cone of the aircraft is complete. From this point I have basically 3 directions to continue on the project… the forward fuselage, the wings, or the rest of the empennage.
